A simple line upon a page
drawn at journeys start
turned and lengthened as you age
by thought and soul and heart

colored in both dark and light
by sorrow love and joy
winds it way through wrong and right
lies created lines destroyed

lessons learned a pattern drawn
more complex over years
until there comes the final dawn
that every mortal fears

Stand with me at the final door
now turn and raise your sight
the artists hand can paint no more
it rests neath judgments light

Now is the time to think my friend
not on that fateful dawn
when the art of life does end
