Everyone asks for answers
But what are they
Truth or fiction
What answers truly matter.

Look down for an answer
To your hands
Do you see them
Look closely, what do you see

Weathered and worn or smooth as silk
Do they yearn to create or destroy
do they strive to heal to harm
Or perhaps to touch the unknown

What is your answer?

Look to your chest and the heartbeat within it
The tangled emotions that make up a life
Stand still for a moment and turn your gaze inward
An answer awaits you now what do you feel.

Shattered and breaking or stronger than iron
Hide in the shadows or challenge the world
Fueled by a fire or  frozen in ice
Love or hate, joy or sorrow

What is your answer?

Look in a mirror and into your eyes
The windows it's said to see into your soul
Take notice of what you read deep within them
Tell me the truth now what do you believe.

In yourself, your abilities,your gifts.
In gods and prophets or science and technology
In fate or free choice
Or perhaps in dreams and magic

What is your answer?

Asking others for answers to the important questions
Will yield only false statements
For everyone has a different path
And only you yourself can find

What is your answer?
just pondering something

Whether or not that is true and wise, to illustrate the point, the explanation you gave now comes of as much more in depth, and interesting than your poem did. As it, "to me", comes of a as too plain. We live in a new age renaissance, where even television commercials tells us to "get in tune with ourselves". As an artwork meant to inspire, it doesn't bring anything new to my table.

yes it is plain. It was simply a wording of where my mind was wandering one day. And one who has already started on the journey over the mountain would not find much new in it. I wouldn't know much about television commercials as I do not watch tv. Yes we live in a world where anyone with enough money for a spot on the tv may name themselves prophet and deliver advice. 3 lines from the poem. What do you see. What do you feel. What do you believe. how many folks do you think can honestly answer these questions without self deception?

And I thank you for reading my poem and commenting on it. Every artist can improve and you have given me things to think on. I thank yo

Stand still for a moment and turn your gaze inward" - Now this is fucking ACE advise!. I like the theme you've picked here. I still think however it comes of a bit plain, not in style or performance, though, as it's easily readable and clear as day=) I agree the most valuable knowledge comes from within, but however, if you don't know how to actually operate your own bio-neuronal machinery, you tend to get lost, and the answers a lost mind gives can be as dirty and destructive as the words of the most vicious preachers. Simply looking in your soul does not cut it. My point is that it although your words might even provoke thought in some, it would do sou, at the same level as the hippy messages of love and inner piece did, it sells, but it doesn't change.

ahh but for me to profess to know the inner workings of another's mind would be falsehood.
Yes simply looking inward is not enough but it is the beginning. And yes you can become lost. I did
But that is part of the journey. You can take truth's you have found wrap them in bright ribbons and paper and present them
to others and like many gifts they will be set aside because they will have no value to the one who receives them.
it's only in searching that you learn the value of what you find. So I will not say "this is what I have seen on the other side of the mountain." I will say "there is the mountain what you seek is on the other side." Because as much is learned in the crossing as there is on the far side. and What one person finds could be entirely different from what I saw.

It comes back to not waiting or letting others find answers for you. If you wish them to have meaning to you then you must seek them yourself. no selling. no message of peace and love. And change? that is up to each one of us. There is the mountain. Begin your journey. Some will become lost. Some will turn back. Some spend a lifetime in crossing. easy or hard through light or shadow the path is there to be followed.

Only you know the true answers about yourself...you just have to dig deep enough to find them...

Thanks :) It was hard to gauge the flow of the read without the rhyme.
